It has been a delightful week in first grade. The class is getting in the groove of our schedule and we are able to spend more time on our academic learning goals.  This week I introduced another "power" reading strategy: Think about what makes sense.  When using this strategy students need to stop and think if it looks right, sounds right and then think of a word that would make sense in the sentence.  Our class goal is to become confident word solvers.  When they come to an unfamiliar word they will be able to puzzle through it using a variety of strategies.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
