Run, Run, As Fast As You Can...

This week students have done an amazing job of learning the routines and adjusting to the rhythm of the day.  They are learning each other’s names and finding out what makes us the same and what is unique about each of us.
Every morning we get to greet one another, share and participate in an activity.  Right now we are practicing listening to one another and sharing something we learned.  Eventually, students will be assigned a special sharing day.  We’ll provide you with some guidelines and topic suggestions as we get ready for this step.
This week we have continued to “unwrap” materials that we will be using in our class.  Students have explored pattern blocks, linking cubes, tiles, and small wooden blocks during math time.
In literacy we are building our “stamina” as we read to ourselves for longer and longer durations.  Ask your child how many minutes we have gotten up to.
We’re guessing that you have heard all about that runaway gingerbread man.  As we looked around the school for him we had a chance to see some key players in the building and notice where specific classes and offices were located. Check out the pictures and see if your child can fill in the details.
Have a great weekend and we hope to see many of you at Rally Day on Saturday.
