Returning Home

This past week we returned to the forest for another year of ECO. It was incredible to see the students pick up right where we left off last year. This week we were in search of insects. We used nets to sweep through the tall grass and observed them in our outdoor  laboratory. At the end of ECO we introduced sit spots this year. Students picked out a spot in the forest that they will return to each week. It was remarkable to watch the students disperse around the forest and reflect about their morning. As I sat in my own sit spot a wave of warmth came over me as I looked around. This is where they belong, they are at home in the forest and at peace. We are so lucky to give this incredible opportunity to our students.
