First Week of K

We had a wonderful first couple of weeks in kindergarten. Here are some of the moments we captured.

It Is Almost Time!!

Kindergarten is just around the corner!! We have been really enjoying getting to know all our kindergarten friends and families and look forward to visiting more this week.  Here is what your child will need the first day of school:

• snacks
• lunch if they are bringing one from home
• shoes that they can run around outside in
• water bottle (with sport top please)
• a change of clothes to keep in their backpacks (just in case)

Boulder Beach

We had a wonderful time at the beach today! Thanks to the chaperones who were able to come with us.

Fields of Gold

This morning we walked over to Fairmont  Farm and spent some time with the calves. After we found a field of dandelions that we could not pass up. Some kids played hide and seek, other searched for 4 leaf clovers while other learned the healing qualities of dandelion stems. 

Getting to know our characters

We have been learning a lot about characters in reading and writing lately. We have been noticing how their feelings change over the course of a book and how we can bring those feelings to life. Below are a sampling of sticky notes they recorded some feeling their characters were feeling in their books.

Nature Sketching

We had a great time in the forest this week. We sketched woodland plants that we found in the forest. This time they were not covered by snow! We tried some edible plants as well (wild leeks and trout lily). Next ECO session we are going to make art supplies out of various plants!

Business Lunch

We had a great lunch on Friday at Sarducci's! The kids took their job very seriously and took many notes at the restaurant. This week they will be writing their reviews. After lunch we stopped at the COOP so the kids could see their poems on display. They were so excited to see them there!!

This week we had a writing celebration.  Students have been working on opinon writing and making sure they give reasons for their opinions.
